My name is Emily.  Like so many others, I have taken to Instagramming the shit out of everything I cook and/or eat.  I decided that wasn’t enough, so here we are.  Sit for a spell and enjoy what I’ve devoted so many hours, calories, and burned fingers, to showing you.

Some details: I am a Brooklynite via PDX.  I’ve lived here since 2010, and while I thought that moving to the big city and into a small kitchen would squash all my desire to cook/bake, I have found the opposite to be true.  The abundance of good food in this town is a constant source of inspiration, as are my crafty and foodie friends.  These days I find myself thinking about recipes practically in my sleep and am always itching to try something new or put a healthier spin on an old fatty favorite.

That’s the long and short of it.
Hungry bear is hungry…

Which reminds me, if you’re curious about the images shown in the header of my main page, they are all dishes I’ve made and previously snapped in the age of B.B. (before blog).  Here’s a list (left to right, top to bottom):

1. Sweet potato ice cream with maple nut crunchies. 2. Turkey meatballs with squash and tomato sauce over pasta. 3. Cinnamon rolls. 4. Blueberry pancakes. 5. “Garbage” cookie tart (with peanut M&Ms, pretzels, and potato chips). 6. First Florentine meal (chickpeas with a salad of arugula, fresh mozzarella, tomato, and a side of flatbread). 7. Easy yeast bread. 8. Turkey chili with cheddar biscuits. 9. Apple and honey challah. 10.  Baked chocolate cake donuts. 11. Blueberry cornbread. 12. Carrot pancakes. 13. Spritz (common drink in Italy). 14. Cherry sharlotka. 15. Best brownies with a pretzel crust. 16. Fresh-picked raspberries from VT, served over pancakes. 17. Buttermilk biscuits with maple glaze and crumble bacon. 18. Apples fresh picked from VT.

In Florence, Italy. Land of good food.
